The Course

If you’ve ever felt like your reactions don’t match the moment, or like part of you disappears when things get overwhelming, you’re not alone. This six-week program is designed for people navigating complex trauma and dissociation. Through a combination of videos, handouts, and weekly group meetings, you'll learn what dissociation and complex trauma really are, and why they make so much sense in the context of your life. The small groups will focus on helping you apply what you learn in ways that fit your real-world experiences.

This isn’t just me sharing dry data. We will work through evidence-based and clinically proven strategies for emotional regulation, internal communication, and identifying patterns of avoidance or overwhelm. Most importantly, you’ll finish with a personalized plan you can actually use to move forward, built from the insights and tools you’ve gathered throughout the course.

Whether you're new to understanding dissociation or have been in therapy for years, this program offers structure, validation, and the knowledge you need to find the path to the life you've always wanted.

Please note: this is not a processing or a support group, which are focused on sharing feelings and receiving validation. This program is intended to provide education and skill building in a community of people with similar concerns.

Information

Have you read about dissociation and complex trauma and thought, "That might be me"? This six-week group is a great place to get the information you need to understand what's going on inside.

Skills

We will cover evidence-based and clinically-proven skills to improve emotional regulation, internal communication, patterns of avoidance, and overall well being.

Concrete Plan

By the end of the class, you will have a concrete plan to move forward, on your own, with your current therapist, or whatever your next steps may be.

I'm Whit, and Quirky People Are My People

I'm Whit Davison, a licensed clinical social worker in Kansas City, Missouri. In my therapy practice, I help clients with severe anxiety, complex trauma, and dissociation live the lives they have always wanted. I have seen time and time again how severe anxiety and dissociative disorders, even when well-managed, continue to interfere with some of the most basic building blocks of a desirable life.

Anxious minds are different. Dissociative minds are different. Even when they're healing or healed, they're quirky.

What if I am already in therapy?

This is an education and skill-building group, and should fit in with any therapy you are currently doing. It's intended to provide access to specialized content for dissociation and complex trauma that we can't expect every therapist to know.

I'm really unravelling and need help right now.

This group is not intended to be a crisis or a support group, and so you need to be pretty stable to get the benefits of attending. Another option is to add this class onto therapy treatment with another provider (see the previous question!).

What does being in the class look like?

Each week, there will be one or two videos (with audio only and transcript only options), a resource handout relevant to the week, and an online small group meeting with no more than six participants, which will last about an hour.
